Willingly (1 Chronicles 29:9)

Then the people rejoiced because they had offered so willingly, for they made their offering to the LORD with a whole heart, and King David also rejoiced greatly.

1 Chronicles 29:9

There are really only two ways I can give God what He asks of me: willingly and unwillingly. If I choose to give unwillingly — under compulsion — then God is neither glorified nor pleased with the giving. Paul writes that God loves a cheerful giver and that no one should give under compulsion. If I willingly give God what He asks for — sometimes commands — then both God and I can rejoice in the giving as David and the people did in the giving of gifts toward the construction of the temple.

There’s not much else to write this morning except to ask myself the question of what God is requesting and to then willingly offer it to Him.
