Then it shall come about when the LORD your God brings you into the land which He swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you, great and splendid cities which you did not build, and houses full of all good things which you did not fill, and hewn cisterns which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant, and you eat and are satisfied, then watch yourself, that you do not forget the LORD who brought you from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
Moses, in his farewell address to the Israelites, hits on something that is all too common even today: It is easy to forget God when things are going well. God is about to do everything that Moses outlines here and the Israelites will do exactly what Moses warns them not to do. They will forget God and all the good He has done them and will worship idols.
The same thing can happen in my own life. God saved me and continues to work in my life. When things are going well and blessing flows, it is easy to forget God in the hustle and bustle of life. He deserves better than that.
Let me keep my mind and heart and being focused on God. He has done great things for me and deserves as much and more.
Thank You, Father, for all of Your blessings. Please teach me to keep You at the forefront of my mind and not to forget You when things are going well.
